Communication

For those of you that don't know me...I grew up in a community where, in my eyes, the values and principles are, within themselves, pathological in nature. So needless to say, good communication skills didn't even make the list of Top 20 skills to have, let alone master. In fact, most of us have no idea that our shortcomings in communicating effectively are greatly affected by the way we as individuals process and rationalize the facts of an occurring situation. All of that being said, lately I have been presented with a few hurdles that are potentially life altering. The interesting thing about these hurdles is that they are easily navigable with a little objective communication. However, I can't seem to get the others involved to see that.

Listen, I don't purport to be some communication guru, but I try to be reasonable and empathetic in any situation where my actions effect the lives of others. Unfortunately it took some time for me to see and understand how a single choice can have a lasting effect on so many lives, but now that I have that understanding, and with the hardships I've been experiencing, I feel that I have a responsibility to encourage everyone else to pay more attention to the way you communicate with those in your life. The way you LISTEN and RESPOND will determine the outcome of your interactions. I'm sure those of you who are happily married know what I'm talking about. Lol!

I'm just saying, readers, all of our relationships require nurturing and a selfless dedication to keeping them healthy. I try to hold myself to a higher standard than I hold those around me. I'm not perfect nor will I ever be, but that definitely will never stop me from striving for perfection. The people in my life deserve nothing less.
